How to Write Well in Academic Writing?

If someone asks you "What does academic writing look like?". I think we have different ideas about how to answer the question. Academic writing is about research and intuition to deliver our ideas in writing activity; we should know about the rules of academic writing. Academic writing can improve our critical thinking and our ability to analyze something in English. We can mention that writing is a recursive process; why? because writing activities are things that can be done repeatedly so that our skills increase and become better. We should practice again and again to improve our writing abilities.

In academic writing, we have keywords like planning, critical thinking, referencing, well-supported points, evidence-based arguments, logical development, and also grammar (editing). Structure and language in academic writing, including paragraphs, topic sentences, and sentences, as well as writing tips for those and editing. Let me explain it to you one by one. First, a paragraph in academic writing is about structure; a paragraph should cover one idea or one aspect of an idea. Second, that is a topic sentence. It's about the topic and controlling idea, as well as the most general sentence in the paragraph; every sentence in the paragraph should support the topic sentence. Next, there is a sentence in the text that begins with a sequence of words with a capital letter and ends in a full stop. In academic writing, we should know the writing tips for sentences, including how to create an objective, confident voice, use appropriate language for your audience and purpose, be clear and concise, and use language sensitively.

Based on the picture above, we can see that the characteristics of academic content writing start with the focused approach, references, grammar, and also plagiarism. In academic writing, we should learn about editing. When we try to write something in English, especially in academic writing, we should know the editing techniques. This one focuses on the mechanical issues within the text: sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, grammatical mistakes, and so on. When we start to write something, we can try to follow some tips from the beginning, like: take a break, read out loud, use a straightedge, tech, friend, short periods, and short sentences.

Academic writing is something that we have to learn in relation to research and also analyze what we are going to write about. We can improve our critical thinking and critical writing to find different ideas for starting our writing activities. We have to know the rules and also the structure of the language, the techniques of editing, and how to write something in English very well, especially for academic writing.
